These are the books and translations we will use this semester. I highly recommend purchasing a hard copy of each of these books so that you can make notes in your book and we will all have uniform page numbers for reference. However, if there is a need to avoid purchasing books, many of these have a free version indicated.

  2. Greek Mythology (D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths) purchase used or new
  3. The Iliad (for high school students, Fitzgerald’s translation or for younger readers, The Iliad for Boys and Girls by Alfred Church)
  4. The Odyssey (for high school students, Fitzgerald’s translation or for younger readers, The Odyssey for Boys and Girls by Alfred Church
  5. The Aeneid (for high school students, Fagles’s translation, or The Aeneid for Boys and Girls by Alfred Church)
  6. Watch Aeschylus’s Agamemnon and follow along in the script
